Distinguished delegates,
The issue of Illegal immigration has plagued Europe in large proportions and chieving a solution requires going into the roots of this fortuity and promoting cooperation between the and European Union, Member States involved on the matter, and the respective UN regional bodies, such as the United Nations Office of the Special Adviser on Africa. In order to identify the main focal points of attraction of immigrants, classify migratory patterns, and conceive solutions to the socio-ethnic problems that might be causing such massive immigration levels.
Turkey would like to point out that, methods like policing arrests, detention, and deportation of illegal immigrants are mild violations of Article 13, Section 2 of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which allows people to flee from countries that they deem detrimental to their well-being, which is the case of most of them. Indeed it has been quite ironic of France to be mentioning respect towards human rights, when in August it has illegally repatriated 150 Romas, clearly violating 2004 EU Directive on Freedom of Movement and the UN charter, more specifically the very same article and section previously stated.
