| Delegate, If NATO is removed from the UN, it will financially destroy the UN. In 2007, UN's military budget reached a new record. Why? NATO! They represent 70.3% of its whole $1,200 billion. THINK ABOUT IT. If there is no money, there is no action, no aid, no peace nothing. We need NATO as part of the UN. Later | |

| Delegates,
By the presented facts of the delegation of France, the delegation of Israel is against the act of removing NATO from the UN, due the fact that would economically break the UN

| NATO was created in 1949 with one goal protect all the European countries from the USSR especially during the cold war when the USSR reached its max power but 1991 nato's mission was over the USSR collapsed in 1991 and NATO should have gone with it NATO is a relic of the cold war and is not necessary the UN can do everything NATO is doing but with more efficient and the right funding.
p.s
the money NATO has comes from its member the north Atlantic nations. all NATO members could stop giving 2% of the annual GDP to NATO and start giving the money directly to the UN besides in countries where NATO was stationed most of its spending went it to military research rather than rebuilding the countries

| NATO was created to defend amember countries against Russia, but many of them have very stable relationships, and even depend on Russia. For example: 40% of Germany's gas is supplied by Russia, after a series of agreements with it. Russia does not pose as a threat to the world so why have an organization that will fight against it.

NATO currently operates under a new mandate which did not receive approval of all U.N. sectors nor the American Senate. The issue is not the money amount, but the way NATO chooses to spend it. In 2007, developed countries in the U.N. spent 1.2 trillion on military, when 70.3% of this was provided by NATO members, but spent only 103 billion on development aid to countries in need, which is less than the United Nation’s requirement. Actually, NATO charges its members 2% of annual GDPs. It even charges countries that can’t pay, like Greece and Romania. These are the numbers in actual context, delegates of France and Israel.

Since the end of the Cold War, NATO actually has no purpose. NATO is claiming to be increasing security in the Persian Gulf and helping countries manage their energy, but in reality it is just installing missiles, putting non members of the region at risk. The U.N. Charter states that such responsibility is held by the Security Council, not independent organizations. NATO also had the chance to show its worthiness in the second mandate (which remember, was not approved) in Yugoslavia in 1999, but instead killed 50 Albanian civilians and 3 Chinese diplomats. Kosovo also ended with 6 Americans killed. Afghanistan is also another fail example. The Taliban used to control 54% of the country before NATO's operation. Currently, it controls 72% of the Nation, including the capital. It seems in fact, that NATO is ironically slowing down progress against terrorism. Every nation, especially Greece, the U.K. and Romania, which are charged money by NATO but never seem to have any actual benefits, should be in favor of the Russian resolution! The delegate also apologizes for not previously posting, due to technical issues.

Delegate of Germany Russia appreciates the support, from Germany and France to oppose NATO's east expansion (blocking Ukraine and Georgia, in acknowledgment to Russia's voicing of concerns) in 2008. The nation's economic ties have in fact fostered with Germany's investment of $20 billion this year to modernize Russia's economy. Russia also allowed the entrance of Germany to provide trains and other infra-structural advancements. The Russian delegation is simply stating the U.N. could function in superior manner with the dissociation of NATO operations; it does not want to cut ties with NATO members, although it has presented facts to encourage the eradication of NATO.

| Delegate of Russia,
By the arguments presented so far in the discussion Israel still is against the removal from NATO from UN, because of its economic value for the UN which helps many countries and also because NATO seems to be useful for the people in America and Europe!

| Delegates it is important to remember that NATO was established as an anti-USSR military alliance to strengthen capitalist control and preventing socialist revolutions in the colonialist powers of Europe weakened by World War II. Since the end of the Soviet Union and the ending of the Warsaw Pact, the U.S.’s only purpose in relation to NATO has been to expand NATO and turn it into a military instrument to consolidate U.S. corporate power, surround Russia and China and re-conquer the former colonial world. Surrounding Russia with this military alliance is the greatest danger to peace stability. | |

| Delegates,
Why does the Russian federation wants to remove NATO from the UN since the partnership clearly is beneficial to the UN itself?
yes delegates The first NATO Secretary General, Lord Ismay, stated that the organization's goal was "to keep the Russians out, the Americans in, and the Germans down". But curiosly German is now a member state of NATO, therefore the statement by the FIRST secretary general does not apply any more to NATO. The cold war has ended, new ideas came and NATO's goal today is totally different from what it was 50 years ago. There is no point for this resolution to pass since it clearly is a grudge the Russian Federation seems to have with NATO, by decreasing it circle of influence.
