PostSubject: South China Sea   Mon Sep 27, 2010 8:27 pm

Dear delegates,

The delegate of China would like to point out to the delegates a conflict, that has been occuring for a long time now.

Quote :
The South China Sea is a marginal sea that is part of the Pacific Ocean, encompassing an area from the Singapore and Malacca Straits to the Strait of Taiwan of around 3,500,000 kmĀ². Depending on measurement, it is the largest or second largest body of water after the five oceans.

It is located
south of China and Taiwan,
west of the Philippines,
north west of Sabah (Malaysia), Sarawak (Malaysia) and Brunei,
north of Indonesia,
north east of the Malay peninsula (Malaysia) and Singapore, and
east of Vietnam.

Quote From Wikipedia

As you can see delegates, the South China Sea is a big deal... a huge body of water, full of resources and the largest
or second largest body of water after the five oceans. Our topic will consist of recognizing this body of
water and everything located on it(including the islands) as property of the People's Republic of China (available for negotiation).
Certain borders will be made so that territories of all countries aren't violated, but the delegate of China is certain
this territory belongs to us, and we will defend this cause due to its righteousness.

With heart,
The Delegate of China

Dear delegate,

The delegate of China thanks the delegate of North Korea, and would like to state
that China is willing to improve the current status in the South China Sea, due to
various conflicts involving the oil reserves on it and how this might lead to a massive
conflict if not handled with soon. The delegate would also like to encourage the countries
involved in this issue to post in this topic so we can start debating about it as soon as possible.

With Heart,
The Delegation of China

Delegate of Cambodia believes the most reasonable thing for us to do is giving the South China Sea to who it truly belongs, China. However delegate of China, China has shown to be the most energy user in the world and had failed to agree with several UN resolution regarding climate change and the environment. How will China help protect the South China Sea when it have been ineffective in solving CO2 issues?

Dear delegate,
China has already been taking actions toward the pollution throughout the country.
For example, China during 1999- 2001 planted trees to work on deflorestation, and
since 2008, all supermarkets and department stores are prohibited to use plastic bags.
As you can see, delegate, China is taking action to lower the pollution and try to make our
country more ecologically friendly. So, dear delegate, China can be trusted to protect the
South China Sea and will use it for a good cause.

With heart,
Delegation of China.

Delegate of China,

The delegate recognizes some efforts that China is making to stop pollution in the Sea and help the environment. The delegation of Cambodia wants to help China, but what are you really proposing? What measures are you taking in order to obtain what the delegation wants?

Can China please restate its resolution in a way that it specifies what measures they will to take in order of the recognition of the South China Sea?

Dear delegate,
The delegation of India woul like to first know what specific island China wants to take exclusive control of?
However regardless of what islands China wishes to control, India is aware that China still wants exclusive sovereignty over the South China Sea. Therefore India is position as against this resolution. Does the delegation of China think that it is fair for China to gain the control of the South China Sea, having other countries like Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia and Taiwan in the dependency of the oil of the region in order of economical growth? Taking in consideration that China is a much bigger nation thean the other mentioned countries, India believes that China deserves more water than the others, however its is not reasonable to take over the whole body of water.
Thank you for your comprehension,
the delegation of India.

Dear delegates,

Sorry for not responding sooner, but finally, I am here. First of all, @ the delegates of Cambodia,
China is proposing controlling 85% of the South China Sea and managing it correctly, since it is
a country more than capable of solving its issues due to its fast growing economy, and will create
institutions to solve the issues in that area and the other part of the South China Sea. Delegate of India,
China doesn't want exclusive sovereignty over the SCS, it just wants its righteous area. The other countries
don't have the capability of administering the area as well as China does, and China's usage of such area will
provide security and the best possible usage of it. China doesn't want the whole sea, it wants the area that they
know that they can administer and work with for the world's sake.

With heart,
The delegation of China.

Delegate, how come China wills 85% of the SCS? Delegate of China, is the same aware that by claiming 85% of the waters in the South China Sea, the other nations that have the SCS border as their margins, which include the Phillipines, Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, would have to equally share 15% of the Sea, although China is a major potence of the world and doesn't directly depend on rich oil (found in the SCS) to stabilize its nation's economy, meanwhile the other cited nations cleary face economical challnges and depend in such oil and gas stations to enrich and succeed as major world potences as well?

India is strongly pleased that the resolution purposed by China was not approved, for although India's ammendment did pass and therefore China would only rule 50% of the SCS, the delegate still believed that 50% of the sea for the other 9 nations to take over would be an extremely low quattity, fellow delegates.

Thank you all.
