Hey again, now for this second week of posting in the forum, we expect some better posts than the welcoming ones. It is still a really grade you can get. This week I expect two posts from each delegate (not delegation^^), but you only need to something like a possibility of a resolution and discussion about it : example Sudan can talk about the Darfur conflict. You can post an INTERESTING article, or you can even argue with someone with thoughtful arguments.

One of Nigeria's possible issues is about oil. Many corrupt governments in Nigeria are being supported by western government and oil companies, and people involved in this have been fighting over the oil, and this is causing a lot of poverty and environment destruction in the country.

A very big issue right now in South Africa is the Zimbabweans fleeing their native country, Zimbabwe, South Africa has placed many military soldiers along the border to stop the thousands of Zimbabweans fleeing economic crisis and political persecution in their country. This issue is very important and The delegate of South Africa wants to look furthor into this problem.

Another issue the delegation of Nigeria is considering is about the violent terrorists who are killing many innocent people. Most of the victims are Christians in small villages and the terrorists are Hausa/Fulani Muslims. Over the past decade, thousands of innocent people in Nigeria have been killed, by either Muslims or Christians attacking each other in terrorist attempts. The principle reasoning for all of this, is not only religion but the competition for resources and political power.

Over 22,000 children die every day around the world.

That is equivalent to:

1 child dying every 4 seconds
15 children dying every minute
A 2010 Haiti earthquake occurring every 10 days
A 2004 Asian Tsunami occurring every 10 days
An Iraq-scale death toll every 18–43 days
Just under 8.1 million children dying every year
Some 88 million children dying between 2000 and 2009

http://www.globalissues.org/

I just wanted to put that out there.

OIL REFORMS, nigeria is the main oil producer in africa, but today in nigeria because of the competition for oil, and for land, many HUGE companies have been killing, and brabing people for their land, or their secricy.

"Longstanding religious and political tensions in Nigeria erupted into bloodshed this month, marking the latest in a series of clashes between Muslims and Christians that have claimed the lives of hundreds of people this year."NOT only this year but from many years ago, so my delegation is thinking about having a resolution with more than one question of, taking in question that nigeria is the most populated country in africa and one of the most troubled ones.

One important and inevitable issue to discuss concerning Chad is the number of Darfur's refugees and their effect in our country. When the hosts are among the world’s poorest people, the visitors quickly outnumber them, and the newcomers have no immmediate plans to leave, anyone might expect trouble. Refugees fled in the middle of the night, with no time to collect their belongings. Sothey are totally dependent on international aid for food, water and shelter.

Delegates of the African Caucus,
The Iranian delegate is here to remind a issue that the entire world forgets about, the SOMALIAN PIRATES. It is extremely important to help Somalia establish a government and security to its people.

"The increase in the local population has overstretched the capacity of health services and aid agencies, while supply chains have been affected."

http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2006/pr72/en/index.html

"Eastern Chad has concentrated on coordination and leadership of health activities through the Cluster Approach. The main activities include routine epidemiological surveillance, nutritional surveillance and control of micronutrient deficiency in some regions." Chad believes that all countries have the capacity to help this situation making it come to an end.

An important issue that is occuring in Africa is Zimbabwe's economical crisis. This crisis is affecting many poeple because the government is seizuring lands to pay the trial. It started about five years ago when urban and rural areas ceased to create jobs. Nowadays there are no more crops and production, and the earnings are gone.

Fellow Delegates,

Something important that is going on in Sudan is the Darfur Conflict, an on going civil war that started in 2003 and it still goes on today. The sudanese army and two other rebel groups can't come to an agreement and put an end to this madness. This conflict has killed over 300,000 people, and if it continues, it could kill even more.

One of the inumerous issues occuring in Africa is the Blood Diamonds. African countries are selling diamonds to finance terrorism acts. The countries that are most being affected are Angola, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, who are leading oragnizations such as the United Nations to combat the diamond's sale.

Delegates,

The delegate of Sudan is very upset about what the International Criminal Court did to our president, Omar al-Bashir. They accused him of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Darfur. How could they accuse him for something he didn't do. So, our delegation will write a resolution trying to eradicate the ICC.

Of the many issues regarding the Democratic Republic of Congo, one that I find very relevant is the conflicts that emerged in 1998, caused by the lack of fundamental things such as water, control over minerals, etc.

"Since the outbreak of fighting in August 1998,

•Some 5.4 million people have died
•It has been the world’s deadliest conflict since World War II
•The vast majority have actually died from non-violent causes such as malaria, diarrhea, pneumonia and malnutrition—all typically preventable in normal circumstances, but have come about because of the conflict
•Although 19% of the population, children account for 47% of the deaths
•Although many have returned home as violence has slightly decreased, there are still some 1.5 million internally displaced or refugees
•Some 45,000 continue to die each month"

The facts posted would have alerted the world if not for the reason that the most influencial countries are the ones that most gain from the reasources coming from Congo and from the people that are dying from it.

As Marina just said, another issue corncerning the Democratic Republic of Congo are the sicknesses and epidemic diseases, lack of food, food contamination, and significant decrease of the population.

Mexicos issue, is with war on drugs. Although this problem is mainly between the USA, Mexico, and most of South America, it will oneday involve all countries because drugs are worldwide.
